NYHS-CL04 The City That Never Sleeps Brooklyn Bridge Sterling Silver and Brass Cufflinks

These Brooklyn Bridge cufflinks are apart of The City That Never Sleeps Collection created in conjunction with the New-York Historical Society and inspired by their Irving Browning Collection. Irving Browning (1895-1961) is celebrated today as a master documentarian of the heart of New York City. A self-taught photographer and cinematogrpaher, he opened a commercial photography studio in New York City in the early 1920's. Skilled in appealing portrayal of new buildings, Irving and his younger brother Sam photographed exteriors and interiors of theatres, hotels, apartment buildings, residences, rooftops and dramatic skylines. The City That Never Sleeps collection is inspired by the New-York Historical Society's Irving Browning collection, which consists of 1,885 gelatin silver photographic prints, as well as ephemera relating to Irving Brownin's career as a photographer and cinematographer. Images date from 1918 to 1952. The cufflinks feature an image of the Brooklyn Bridge on face and a sterling silver apple at the base.
